# Shake It On: FAQ

## Does it keep Slack, Teams, and Zoom status as active?

Yes. Shake It On generates real cursor input events, so macOS reports you as active and any app that tracks user presence sees you as present. That's how it differs from system-level caffeination tools like Caffeine, which only prevent sleep but don't affect presence indicators.

## Why not just use a built-in system tool or a free app?

System-level tools set OS assertions to prevent sleep, which works in simple cases. Those assertions can be overridden by corporate device management, don't generate the input activity that messaging apps look for to show you as "active," and don't help keep remote desktop sessions alive. Shake It On works at a different level: actual mouse movement. So it works in situations where system tools can't.

## Is there a subscription?

No. Shake It On is a one-time purchase of $9.99. You get the app forever, including all future updates. No recurring charges, no tiers, no upsells.

## Will it drain my battery?

Shake It On has a built-in "Paused When: On battery" option that automatically stops when you unplug. You can also set conditions so it only runs when it needs to, like when specific apps are open or CPU is busy. When it's not shaking, it uses virtually no resources.

## Does it work on corporate-managed Macs?

If your IT allows installing notarized third-party apps, yes. On managed Macs where IT has locked the Energy Saver settings, system-level tools get overridden. Mouse movement sidesteps those specific locks because it's real user input as far as the OS is concerned. If your company restricts installs to the Mac App Store or an allowlist, check with IT first.

## How does the cursor motion look?

It's a layered sine wave, not a straight line. The cursor drifts a few pixels in one direction, then curves back. At the default distance setting (20 pixels) it's imperceptible unless you're staring right at it. At max (420 pixels) it's obvious and useful for demos or stress tests.

## What macOS versions are supported?

macOS 14 Sonoma and later. Apple Silicon and Intel are both supported.

## Is it on the Mac App Store?

No. Shake It On ships directly from shakeiton.app as a notarized, Developer ID signed DMG. Direct distribution lets us keep the price at $9.99 one-time and ship updates immediately through Sparkle.

## Can I get a refund?

Yes. 30 days, no questions. Email hello@greatwork.company.

## Who made it?

Great Work, a small indie studio. More at https://greatwork.company.
