The problem
A sleep event during a recording session in Logic Pro, GarageBand, or Audacity corrupts or ends the recording. Hours of work lost.
Why it happens
Recording apps prevent sleep during active recording in most cases, but leaving the session paused or in playback mode while you step away doesn't prevent sleep.
The fix: Shake It On
Shake It On keeps your Mac awake by moving the mouse slightly at regular intervals. macOS sees real user activity and resets the idle timer. Set it up with the right conditions and it only runs when you're actually audio recording.
Recommended conditions for audio recording:
- Only Shake If audio is playing
- Only Shake If a specific app is running (Logic Pro, Audacity)
