The problem
Batch processing, exporting large catalogs, and applying filters across hundreds of photos in Lightroom or Capture One can take a long time. Sleep interrupts the batch.
Why it happens
Photo editors don't prevent sleep during batch operations. The idle timer counts from your last mouse movement, not from whether the app is actively processing.
The fix: Shake It On
Shake It On keeps your Mac awake by moving the mouse slightly at regular intervals. macOS sees real user activity and resets the idle timer. Set it up with the right conditions and it only runs when you're actually photo editing.
Recommended conditions for photo editing:
- Only Shake If a specific app is running (Lightroom, Capture One)
- Only Shake If CPU is above 20%
